You’re Locked Out of The Gym. Now What?

Posted by Camille VanBuskirk on

This year has been tough on everyone. Whether you’re an everyday gym rat or a novice lifter, your schedule has probably changed significantly since early March. While a lot of us are still staying home, it’s more important now than ever to take care of ourselves. Here are a few ways to stay healthy during Covid--mentally and physically.

Eat Right

It’s easy to lose sight of your goals when you’re stuck inside your house all day, but we all know that you can’t accomplish fitness goals without a healthy diet. A basic rule to follow is to keep your saturated fat and sugar intake down while making sure to eat a lot of fruit, vegetables, and protein like lean meat and fish.

If you find it hard to maintain your protein intake, you might need to start taking a protein supplement. Luckily, there are plenty of options to choose from. Check out our protein section to see what fits your taste best. It’s also important to drink plenty of water!

Take Supplements

While you might be eating plenty of protein and greens, there are certain vitamins and minerals that you can’t get from your diet. Taking supplements is a great way to get these nutrients into your system.

Certain supplements, like zinc and vitamin C, specifically help you fight off sickness. We suggest taking one Optimized Zinc Acetate Lozenge daily to keep your immune system healthy. Zinc supplements support healthy eyes, skin, and hair, as well as boost energy levels.

Stay Active

Your gym may be closed, but there are still plenty of ways to stay active without stepping foot in a gym. Simply walking outside or doing a quick HIIT workout will keep your energy at a normal level. Getting outside is also a great way to get in your vitamin D, which supports your immune system and brain function.

Since many of us are working from home, make sure to walk around and stretch every now and then to keep blood flowing throughout your body. It’s easy to just sit at your desk all day, but your body will thank you for staying active.

Stay Mindful

In many ways, your mental health is even more important than your physical health. Make sure you’re taking some time for yourself each day, whether that be working out or spending time with family and friends.

Your mental health is heavily dependent on the types of nutrients you put into your body, so it’s important that you know what you need to feel good. To keep up with your mental health, we recommend that you get a full dose of omega-3 fatty acids each day. Omega-3s are oils found in fish that support brain and heart health and combat depression and anxiety. The Orange OxiMega Fish Oil Citrus is the perfect supplement to take every day for a healthy mind and body.
