Food is an important part of our everyday lives and overall health. So, it may not be surprising that it can have a positive or negative affect on your sex life too.
Outside of factors like attraction to your partner, stress levels, sleeping habits, etc., sexual desire is closely tied to the levels of sex hormones (angrogens and estrogens) that our body produces. Being in a calorie deficit diet can affect the production of hormones, and as a result can lower your libido. Maintaining a healthy and well balanced diet may not be a cure-all for sexual issues, but it may give you the boost you need to start.
Whether you’re eating at a deficit for cutting season or packing on the calories for bulking season, fueling your body with the right kinds of foods can help boost your mood and energy levels. According to Elaina Lo, a chef and nutritional health coach at Your Food as Medicine, there are a number of foods to help enhance your sex life.

Here are 9 foods to incorporate into your current diet to help boost your sexual health:

Avocados
Avocados were discovered by the Aztecs in 500 BC. They named it āhuacatl, which translates to "testicle." This was likely due to the texture, shape, and size of the fruit. Not to mention they grow in pairs. Today we have learned that Avocados are actually pretty good for testicles too. They contain Vitamin C and K, which helps regulate blood flow to sexual organs and boost libido. Avocados are also rich in vitamin B6, which can help decrease PMS symptoms such as fatigue, bloating, and irritability. This may help those who experience menstrual cycles “get in the mood” at any time of the month.

Bananas contain a chemical called tryptophan, which helps increase the secretion of serotonin in the body - serotonin helps enhance your mood and increase sex drive. They are also high in potassium, which helps boost the production of testosterone (sex hormone) which may help improve your libido.
Figs not only enhance the secreation of pheromones to increase arousal, they are also high in iron, fiber, potassium, and magnesium, all of which promote great sexual health.
Flax seeds
Flax seeds help increase testosterone in the body and the oils present in the flaxseeds have been shown to increase blood flow to sexual organs. They also contain lignans, an estrogen-like chemical.
