Fat Burners: Do Fat Burning Supplements even work?

Posted by Glenn Green on

People who are new to the fitness world often have a goal in mind: lose weight--fast. In many cases, this involves fad diets, low-fat snacks, and “miracle pills” that promote the idea of overnight fat loss. Unfortunately, there’s no magic pill to lose weight and there is no healthy diet that will make you shed the pounds in days. The overlooked ticket to weight loss and a healthy physique is simple: a healthy diet and regular exercise. With that being said, there are certain supplements you can take alongside a healthy lifestyle to aid in your weight loss journey. Fat burners are one of the more popular supplements.
But, do fat burners work? Do they do what they’re supposed to do? The short answer is yes, but they aren’t the miracle pill that many people assume they are. Here’s how they work.
Firstly, fat burners aid in your weight loss journey; therefore, they only work if you’re eating right and exercising regularly.
Fat burners are thermogenic supplements that raise your body temperature and speed up your metabolism, resulting in more calories burned. This can also result in a lower appetite and increased energy.
The main ingredient in fat burners is caffeine, which increases your metabolism and provides energy for exercise. Caffeine makes it easier for the body to break down fatty acids that reside in adipose tissue—also known as belly fat. Once the fatty acids are broken down, they enter the bloodstream and can be burned up by our bodies to create energy.
Other usual ingredients include green tea, L-carnitine, and yohimbine--which all contribute to the process of converting stored body fat into energy.
So, do fat burners work? The answer is yes, but only when you set reasonable expectations, keep a healthy diet and exercise routine, and take the dose that’s right for you.
